Standing On The Edge Of The Noise

Zur Vorstellung ihres siebten und letzten Albums “Dig Out Your Soul” präsentieren die vier Brit-Popper von Oasis im August 2008 das ganz besonders private Konzert “Standing On The Edge Of The Noise” in ihrem Proberaum in den Black Island Studios in London.

Nur ein Jahr später, am 28. August 2009, löst sich die erfolgreiche britische Popband auf. Ein Grund mehr für neoMusic mit den Fans in Erinnerungen zu schwelgen.

Der typische Oasis-Sound

Begrüßt wird der kleine Publikumskreis mit der gewohnten Lässigkeit und einem ihrer ältesten Stücke aus dem Jahr 1994: “Rock’n Roll Star”. Mit ihrer ersten Singleauskopplung des neuen Albums “The Shock Of The Lightning” liefern die Briten einen ersten Vorgeschmack und stimmen die Fans auf melodische Stunden ein. Das folgende von Gitarrist Gem Archer komponierte Stück “To Be Where There’s Life”, ebenfalls vom neusten Album, erinnert an eine Mischung aus den Stones und den Beatles mit einem hohen Anteil aus instrumentalen Elementen.

Nach kurzem Gitarrentausch folgt “Waiting For The Rapture” bei dem Lead-Gitarrist Noel Gallagher das Mikrofon übernimmt. Der typische Oasis-Sound bleibt auch bei diesem neuen Titel erhalten und lässt die Fans umso mehr dem nächsten Titel entgegen fiebern. Dieser wird auch sogleich mit geschlossenen Augen, unter rhythmischen Bewegungen perfekt mitgesungen. Die Rede ist von “The Masterplan”, ein älteres Werk vom gleichnamigen Album aus dem Jahr 1998. Altbekannt geht es weiter mit “Songbird” und “The Importance Of Being Idle”. Beide komponiert von Liam Gallagher, Sänger der Band und Bruder des Lead-Gitarristen Noel.

Jede Menge Superhits

Ein neues, ebenfalls von Liam geschriebenes Werk ist “I’m Outta Time”, welches die Fans in den folgenden Minuten sichtlich überrascht. Etwas fetziger geht es mit “Supersonic”, einem sehr alten Titel aus dem Jahr 1994, weiter. Mit diesem Song schafften sie das erste Mal eine Platzierung in den britischen Singlecharts.

Als einer der langhaltigsten Ohrwürmer und größten Hits der Brit-Popper darf “Don’t Look Back In Anger” natürlich nicht fehlen. Die Fans werden auch hier nicht enttäuscht, der Superhit aus dem Jahr 1996 wird wie erwartet mit melodischen Gitarrenklängen zu einem Highlight der Show. Als Konzertabschluss ist “Falling Down” sehr gut gewählt. Er ist dem typischen Oasis-Sound treu und bleibt im Ohr.

In August Oasis performed in their rehearsal studio prior to the start of their 2008/09 World tour. Through Oasisinet they invited a few fans to join them for the final night of their rehearsals before they hit the road. Over 10,000 fans applied to go in under 24 hours for the 100 places on offer. The resulting film – ‘Standing On The Edge Of The Noise‘ – is a unique, intimate look at the band performing in their own space, instead of the huge stadium stages on which they are more often seen. The programme includes a mix of classics and new tracks from the current album.

‘Standing On The Edge Of The Noise‘ will air on Channel 4 this Saturday at 12:20am. The gig will also air internationally in the forthcoming months so be sure to check your local listings.

Tickets for Oasis’ Electric Proms performance sold out this morning in 40 seconds flat.

The gig will be a very special performance as the band are performing with the Crouch End Festival Choir.

The Oasis performance will be broadcast on BBC Radio 1 from 9pm on 26th October, and on BBC2 at 22:45pm on the same day. Fans outside the UK can watch the performance for a week after the festival along with photos and interviews at www.bbc.co.uk/electricproms.

Liam Gallagher to be first guest on chat show

Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher is to be the first guest on a new talk show fronted by two members of All Saints.

‘The Hot Desk’ will feature Gallagher’s partner Nicole Appleton and Melanie Blatt interviewing people in a new talk show that is a made-for-mobile production.

The show will also feature Dave Berry and Emma Griffiths “interviewing celebrity friends and contacts at movie premieres, parties, launches and backstage at gigs”.

The first interviews will be made available on the ITV mobile site today (November 15) and include an interview with Gallagher on London’s Hampstead Heath, along with interviews with Stereophonics, The Twang and Fightstar, reports The Guardian.

To celebrate the release of STOP THE CLOCKS on the 20th November. Channel 4 (UK ONLY) will be running an Oasis week on Sunday 19th to Sunday 26th November. Fans will be able to watch a preview of the film ‘Lord Don’t Slow Me Down’ on Sunday 19th November at 23.35. As well as the film viewers will be able to watch Oasis: Live from Manchester ( live concert performance of the band at their Manchester City Stadium show last year) straight after the film.

Amongst loads of other Oasis programming over the weekend fans will also have another chance to watch the documentary ‘There We Were Now Here We Are – The Making of Oasis’ on Friday 24th November at 24.30.

Channel 4 today released preliminary schedules which included the UK TV premiere of ‘Lord Don’t Slow Me Down’. It’s due to air on Sunday 19th November at 11:50pm until 1:10am. Taking into account advertisment breaks, this means the film is about an hour long. Repeats of the 2005 Manchester concert, and the 2004 documentary ‘There We Were… Now Here We Are: The Making Of Oasis are also scheduled on Channel 4 later that week. These are taken from preliminary schedules, so these dates and times are subject to change.
