Liam: “Babyshambles will never support Oasis again”

LIAM GALLAGHER has revealed that PETE DOHERTY has blown his chances of supporting OASIS after failing to turn up to one of their gigs.

Doherty failed to show up to a recent gig at Southampton where he was due to support them with Babyshambles.

Doherty claimed he was unable to return from France in time after attending fashion designer Hedi Slimane’s birthday. Oasis subsequently replaced Babyshambles for their planned second support slot at Milton Keynes with The Zutons.

Speaking to Spanish newspaper El Mundo, Liam said: “That’s where the relationship ended. What we’re not going to do is give him a second chance. It’s not a question of professionalism. It’s much more simple than that. This is the greatest group in the world and what we’re not going to do is let anyone, Pete Doherty, Liam Gallagher or Elvis, fuck it all up.”

Milton Keynes line up

The Zutons have replaced Babyshambles as the Special Guest at this Saturdays Oasis show at Milton Keynes Bowl. A spokesperson for Oasis’s management said that Babyshambles failed to show without any warning or explanation at the Oasis Southampton Rose Bowl last Wednesday. As a result they don’t want to run the risk of disappointing fans with another no show for such an important event this Saturday.

Other show times are not affected and the concert will continue as planned.

Oasis & The Streets join the stars at Zutons London gig

Zuton fever spreads

A star-studded audience turned out in force to see THE ZUTONS perform for a triumphant gig in LONDON over the weekend.

Har Mar Superstar, Noel Gallagher, members of The Streets, Elbow, The Music, and Gorillaz were there to see the Scouse five-piece play Shepherd’s Bush Empire.

The Mercury Music Prize nominees ditched their yellow boiler suits for the night and performed a series of hits from their debut album including ‘Zuton Fever’, ‘Havana Gang Brawl’, ‘Long Time Coming’ and ‘Pressure Point’.

The biggest cheers came for hit singles ‘Remember Me’ and ‘You Will You Won’t', which singer Dave McCabe dedicated to the crowd.

The Scouse five-piece also played forthcoming single ‘Don’t Ever Think’ and new track ‘Weekend Scrub’ which McCabe said was dedicated to saxophonist Abi Harding.

As the band left the stage they received a standing ovation from the crowd.

Speaking before the show, drummer Sean Payne told NME.COM: “We have been looking forward to this gig loads. It’s been weird getting used to the big places, because we have been used to playing festivals and playing in America. So coming back here is a bit crazy, but it’s good though.”

The Zutons are due to play two consecutive homecoming Christmas shows at Liverpool’s Royal Court on December 17 and 18.

“We don’t know if we’ll be swapping the boiler suits for some Santa outfits. But it is Christmas so it could happen I reckon,” Sean joked.

The band’s UK tour will continue tomorrow night (October 12) in Northampton.
