Kaiser Chiefs are doing Noel Gallagher’s work for him

Ricky Wilson praises Oasis man for shrewd slagging

Kaiser Chiefs have praised Oasis’ Noel Gallagher – for getting them to do all his work for him.

The band say after the Oasis leader attacked them on the radio recently all they’ve had to do is talk about the Manchester band, a shrewd move by the guitarist.

“He’s really clever because every interview I’ve done in the last week has mentioned Oasis,” Kaiser Chiefs’ Ricky Wilson told Chris Moyles on BBC Radio 1. “So I’m answering questions about their new record and he ends up in everybody’s interviews. He is a publicity machine.”

Kaiser Chiefs vs. Oasis

“Oasis have disappeared up their own arse. They think they are Led Zeppelin. They’re not.”

Wilson ist allerdings auch kein Kind von Bescheidenheit und beweist in einem Interview, dass er den Gallaghers in puncto Arroganz in nichts nachsteht:

“Music has moved on and I think we are the band that most music fans would see as Oasis’ successor.”

Vom neuen Album der Kaiser Chiefs spricht er natürlich auch nur in den höchsten Tönen und prahlt mit der Tatsache, dass es von Mark Ronson co-produziert wurde.

“He turned down a lot of people to work with us — a lot of big names, who I won’t mention. When he does that to work with us, we must be doing something well.”

Kaiser Chiefs apologise to Liam Gallagher

Kaiser Chiefs lead singer Ricky Wilson apologised to Liam Gallagher for being “rubbish”.

The outspoken Oasis frontman previously branded the Kaiser Chiefs a “bad Blur” and mocked them for wearing make-up.

When Ricky came face-to-face with the wild rocker he said sorry for the state of his group, rather than get embroiled in a war of words.

The ‘I Predict A Riot’ singer told Britain’s Guardian newspaper, “When we met him, I ended up apologising to Liam Gallagher! I said, ‘Sorry we’re so rubbish.’”

Ricky claims the band’s new album, ‘Yours Truly, Angry Mob’, the follow-up to the hugely successful ‘Employment’ is about taking drugs and enjoying the trappings of rock ‘n’ roll success.

He quipped, “Our new album is about being rich and famous and taking lots of drugs, because that’s what we do these days. I’m a big shot now.”

Ricky Wilson: “Oasis are daft for snubbing Brits”

Kaiser Chiefs frontman Rick Wilson has labelled Oasis daft over their alleged decision not to attend The Brits.

The Leeds lad believes that the Mancunians are unreasonable for snubbing The Brits because they didn’t have many nominations.

Wilson said: “It’s daft as fuck they aren’t going to the Brits because they didn’t get lots of nominations. They probably think they’ve been snubbed, but they haven’t. Usually nothing scares Oasis – they are like rock bears. We are just rock hyenas or meerkats.”

In the interview with the Daily Mirror, he said that he was indifferent to fellow five-times Brit nominated James Blunt.

He continued: “Some people love James Blunt and some people hate him, but I just really don’t care. It’s like me being a lawyer or a farmer and being compared to a telesales assistant. I talked to him and we had a right good chat but let’s just say I don’t have any of his records.”

Kaiser Chiefs speak

Singer Ricky Wilson sounds off about his new Employment.

March 28, 2005 - Energetic Leeds lads Kaiser Chiefs are in for a busy spring. Though their debut album, Employment, was just released in U.S., they’re already gigging the East coast, they have a song being featured in an episode of the O.C., and they’re scheduled to appear on The Late Show with David Letterman. IGN Music managed to get a hold of vocalist Ricky Wilson while the band was in Chicago preparing for a show. The singer spoke his mind on pressing issues like music downloading, the origins of the band’s odd name, and crappy band names like Oasis.

IGN Music: Weird set of coincidences.

RW: It’s a great coincidence! The thing is, with any name, saying it all the time?after a bunch of gigs it’s just words after a while. No one thinks about where it came from, you know what I mean? I mean, no thinks about the Red Hot Chili Peppers, that’s a terrible name, but no one thinks about how it came about. Oasis, worst name in the world, it’s a thing in the desert, or in the U.K. it’s a chain of shoe shops!
