Q organisers fear Oasis backlash against U2

British megabands U2 and OASIS are having to be kept apart at the Q music awards later this month (30OCT06), because the organisers are terrified of a spat breaking out between the rival rockers. The two bands are both up for the Best Act In The World Today gong – but after Oasis star LIAM GALLAGHER branded COLDPLAY’s CHRIS MARTIN “a plantpot” at last year’s (05) bash, the bosses behind the event at London’s swanky Grosvenor House fear the worst should Oasis not take home the coveted gong. An insider tells British newspaper the Daily Star, “Oasis and U2 are very important acts to Q and the fact that they’ve both confirmed to attend the awards has made everyone excited – but twitchy. “The last thing they want is either act to be disgruntled but we expect that whichever loses the gong will not be happy. “We’re scheduling to keep them apart before the ceremony and the seating plan puts them on opposite sides of the room.”

Liam Gallagher vs. Chris Martin?

Liams Retourkutsche folgte prompt. Laut dem Blatt schrie er: ‘Spacko! Was willst du? Du Nulpe!’

Backstage relativierten sie jedoch ihre Aussagen. Angeblich sei alles in Butter…

Ach ja — Preise wurden auch noch vergeben: Coldplay gewannen Best Act In The World Today. Oasis holten Best Album und People’s Choice. Weitere Awards gingen unter anderem an U2, Gorillaz und James Blunt.

Oasis return to scoop top Q awards

Ten years after being at the fore of Cool Britannia, Oasis were the big winners at the Q Awards.

The Gallaghers took the Best Album title for Don’t Believe The Truth. The band also scooped the People’s Choice Award. Oasis had bagged five nominations for the annual event.

Their rivals Coldplay were named Best Act In The World Today.

The awards come after Oasis’ latest album Don’t Believe The Truth was heralded by critics as a return to form.

Soldier turned singer James Blunt scooped Best New Act.

Oasis’s old foe Damon Albarn won Best Producer for Gorillaz/Danger Mouse with Demon Days. Albarn’s Gorillaz also scooped the award for Best Video for Feel Good Inc while U2 won Best Live Act.

Scottish singer KT Tunstall took Best Track for Black Horse And The Cherry Tree. Ray Davies’ Waterloo Sunset was named Q Classic Song while the Bee Gees won the Q Lifetime Achievement award at the event attended by a who’s who of the music world.

Dance act The Prodigy won Q Innovation In Sound and Glastonbury’s Michael Eavis the Birthday Honour. Yoko Ono picked up the award on the day after what would have been the former Beatle’s 65th birthday.

On receiving the award for Best Album, Noel said: “It was a change to not get the token Live Act award for being able to play the guitar…Best Album, nice one.”
