Liam Gallagher: “My post-Oasis album will be out by July”

Plus singer regrets the band’s ‘poor’ workrate

Liam Gallagher‘s new band are aiming to release an album by July.

The singer says that his new group – featuring former Oasis bandmates Andy Bell and Gem Archer – had eight songs, and are aiming to head into the studio soon.

“A lot of these songs I wrote before the band [Oasis] split up,” Gallagher told XFM. “I mean, there’s a few new ones on there that are coming out now.”

He added: “We’re going in [the studio] in April with a producer, we’re going to do three songs with him and if he doesn’t balls it up and we don’t balls it up then we’ll go in and do the whole album with him.”

Gallagher suggested he was keen to get on with the new, still nameless group – saying he regretted the fact that Oasis only made seven albums in the 16 years they had a record deal. He called the amount of music Oasis’ put out in their career “poor”, and chastised the band for taking so long to produce new material.

“Seven albums for Oasis is not good, I don’t think. We’ve been going 18 years, 16 years or whatever and all we’ve done is seven albums. Ian Brown’s on his seventh solo album. I just think it’s poor, really,” Gallagher said.

“I’m not going to beat myself up about it, I think we should have made better, bigger albums. Or more albums. Having like four or five years off is just no good,” he added. “Obviously NoelGallagher) wanted a bit of time off and we don’t. The band split in August – we was in the studio in November ‘cos we’re mad for it.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Gallagher said he wants to appear on ‘I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here or Total Wipeout – but only if no other contestants are involved.

“I’d like to do all that shit,” he said, before adding that Total Wipeout is his favourite reality TV programme of the moment. “They do it in Argentina. I’d love to do it on my jaxy, with no one about.”

Oasis fan denies tabloid reports she is to join Liam Gallagher’s new band

Louise Davies not playing bass for Gallagher

Oasis fan Louise Davies has denied tabloid claims she is to join Liam Gallagher‘s new band.

A newspaper report on Saturday (January 9) implied that Davies, who runs Oasis fan site Stopcryingyourheartout.com, had been recruited to play bass in the band.

Writing on Stopcryingyourheartout.com, Davies denied the story, saying: “A story has appeared today in the News Of The World falsely claiming that I’m joining Liam Gallagher‘s new band, and to start recording later this month at Abbey Road studios. Where they get there information from is beyond me.”

Gallagher has previously confirmed that he is to work on new material with former Oasis bandmates Gem Archer, Andy Bell, Jay Darlington and Chris Sharrock, though the band will be joined by an as-yet-unnamed bassist.

Paul Weller on Oasis split: “I’d work with both Liam and Noel Gallagher”

Modfather says he’s not picking sides

Paul Weller has said that he believes that Oasis splitting has been a good thing – and told NME.COM that he would be happy to work with both Noel and Liam Gallagher.

The Jam’s former frontman said that he liked both the Gallaghers “equally” and would not pick sides because of the split.

“Creatively, I think the Oasis split is going to be good thing,” he said. “There’s going to be some great things to come from both of them in the future. I’d definitely be up for collaborating with Liam and with Noel. I love them both equally, and think they’re both extremely talented in their own ways.”

Weller is set to return with his own album in the spring which features contributions from My Bloody Valentine’s Kevin Shields. He will also play a residency at London’s Royal Albert Hall in April.

Liam Gallagher: ‘I don’t wish Noel any bad, I love him to death’

Singer speaks out at the Manchester launch of his clothing line

Liam Gallagher has spoken out about his love for his brother and former Oasis bandmate Noel.

Talking at the launch of his Pretty Green clothing line at the Manchester branch of Selfridge‘s today (December 2), the singer revealed his feelings towards Noel, despite previously saying that he had no interest in speaking to him again.

“He’s doing his thing, we’re doing our thing, I wish him all the best,” Liam told Sky News. “I don’t wish him any bad, I’m his brother. I love him to death.” He added, but did warn Noel by saying “Don’t release it [Noel's solo album] the same day, ‘cos we’ll ave ya.”

Asked whether he had a message to pass onto his brother, Liam cheekily said: “Good luck mate – see you in the next world. Don’t be late!”

As previously reported, Liam said his new band “May still be called Oasis, but he did reveal that they had been thinking of a new name.

“We’re sorta going through the mill of getting a new name, nothings sticking, so we’ve drawn the line on the names at the moment.” He explained. “People are still gonna go ‘Its still Oasis, but its not Oasis without Noel‘ – life’s too short to be arsing about with what people think and that. We’ll see what happens, we’re concentrating on the music at the moment.” He added.

As well as promoting his new clothing line, Liam recently announced that his new band had “Got a bit of studio time booked after Christmas”.

Man who attacked Oasis’ Noel Gallagher pleads guilty

Daniel Sullivan admits causing bodily harm

The man accused of attacking ex-Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher in Toronto last year has pleaded guilty to assault.

Daniel Sullivan admitted causing bodily harm to Gallagher in the Ontario Court of Justice yesterday (November 20).

“Sullivan managed to make his way up to the main stage area, run past the electrical chords set up along the stage, pass the drum kit and lunge toward Noel Gallagher, shoving him violently from behind with great force,” said Crown attorney Ruth Neilson in reading an agreed statement of facts to Justice Richard Schneide.

The court heard Sullivan almost made it to Liam Gallagher, but was tackled by security and was taken to the ground on stage.

He was then held backstage and police said Sullivan was resisting, struggling and screaming as he was arrested. Officers tried to calm him down.

Gallagher was attacked at the V Festival in Canada on September 7 2008.

He suffered three broken ribs, causing the band to cancel a slew of gigs.

Neilson said Sullivan was intoxicated at the time and has no recollection of how he was able to mount the stage, except that he “remembers attempting to climb over the fence”.

Noel Gallagher stated it took eight months before he felt normal again, reports the Toronto Sun.

Schneider ordered a pre-sentence report for Sullivan. His sentencing hearing will begin on February 5, 2010.

Ex-Oasis Liam Gallagher reveals solo album plan

Singer says he’s a ‘million percent confident’ his songs are better than Oasis

Liam Gallagher has revealed plans to start recording his first solo album in the New Year.

The ex-Oasis frontman said he has been demoing a host of new tracks with fellow ex-Oasis members Gem Archer, Andy Bell and Chris Sharrock in a new MTV Italy video interview. Watch it by clicking below.

Gallagher said he was a “million per cent” confident the new songs were better than anything his former band have done.

“We’ve been demoing some songs that we’ve had on the quiet,” he said. “After Christmas we might go in the studio and record it and hopefully have an album out in July. We’ll do it in a different kind of way now. I’ll try and reconnect with a new band, new songs and I’m feeling confident about the songs. I’m feeling a million per cent confident that they could be better than Oasis.”

The singer also admitted that he still thinks a lot of his brother Noel, and said he was sad to see his old band split.

“I love him [Noel] to bits but we just don’t get on,” he explained. “Me and our kid have never been that close anyway. Alright, we were in the band but we kept ourselves to each other, he’d do his thing and I’d do my thing, I’ve got my friends, he’s got his friends. We’d only sort of hang out when we were on tour. We didn’t have a solid relationship, but we both thought Oasis was great.”

Gallagher also said he is continuing to promote his clothing range Pretty Green, with a view to opening a store in the UK next year.

“Music is where it’s at,” he added. “Music is first, clothes are second. If it all goes well hopefully we can maybe get a shop in London. If it goes really well we’ll get a shop in Italy. I want it to be all over the world.”

Gallagher‘s comments come just days after he said he will play his first solo gig in a couple of months.

Liam Gallagher will neue Band formen

Ich will nichts solo machen.

Mal schauen was daraus wird.

Eyewitness account of the fight that split Oasis emerges?

Gossip website claims to have the details on the Paris ‘altercation’ that saw Noel Gallagher quit band

A gossip website is claiming to have more details about the Paris fight that effectively led to Oasis’ split.

As previously reported, the band failed to play the Paris Rock en Seine festival on August 28 after a fight between Noel and Liam Gallagher backstage, and now Holymoly.com is claiming to have an account from “a mole” who saw the dispute that triggered the split.

“The papers quite rightly reported the fact that Noel stormed out from their gig in Paris a minute before they were due onstage because Liam smashed his guitar – but the whole five minutes the saga lasted were proper comedy,” explained the site.

Allegedly Liam had brought his own acoustic guitar to play in the dressing room and a row erupted when Noel made a “pithy comment about Liam‘s playing”.

“Without thinking, Liam stood up and hurled the guitar at Noel. Naturally it missed and landed next at his feet instead,” writes Holymoly.com.

“Realising Liam had mistakenly thrown his own guitar, Noel looked down, shrugged and stamped seven bells of shit out of it until it resembled the bottom of a hamster’s cage.”

It was then, as reported by NME.COM at the time, that the singer made his way to the stage and smashed up his older brother’s guitars. Noel then “flicked the Vs, walked out of the backstage area, got into a taxi and went home”.

The following day (August 29), Noel Gallagher then issued his full statement confirming he had left Oasis permanently.
