Noel Gallagher praises Kasabian

Noel Gallagher says Kasabian are like Mount Fuji.

The Oasis rocker – who is currently on tour in Japan with the group – says he was particularly impressed on a sight-seeing trip around the country, comparing the sights with the music of his ‘Empire’ hitmaker friends.

Noel said: “That bullet train was most enjoyable. The sight of Mount Fuji was, and indeed is, always amazing. Majestic, in fact. A bit like that new Kasabian album. But then I am biased.”

Although impressed by Japan, Noel – who has been complaining of “killer” jet lag – is not as delighted with his own performances.

Posting on his blog on Thursday (19.03.09), the guitarist wrote: “That show was rubbish. That’s 3 s**t concerts in a row for me now – if we’re counting the Radio 1 / BBC stuff last week, which I am. This is worrying. No one else seems to be that concerned though, maybe it’s just me, eh? (sic)”

As well as criticising his own shows, Noel has also blasted ‘Take Me Out’ rockers Franz Ferdinand – who won the Nationwide Mercury Prize in 2004 – blaming the current economic crisis on their success.

He said: “Just done a round of interviews in which I was asked to explain what I thought has gone wrong with the global economy!! Apart from the fact that the global conspiracy theorists have seemingly been right all along, we managed to trace back the actual moment the storms clouds started to gather to when Franz Ferdinand won the Mercury Muzak Prize. THINK ABOUT IT.  (sic)”

Oasis vs. Franz Ferdinand – Alex hits back

Singer compares Liam Gallagher to a “young girl”

Alex Kapranos has hit back at Liam Gallagher after the Oasis singer compared him to Right Said Fred.

In interviews following the release of Oasis’ most recent album ‘Don’t Believe The Truth’ Liam has spoken out about various bands, including Franz, Kaiser Chiefs and Bloc Party.

Until now, Alex Kapranos has held his tongue. But the Franz Ferdinand singer is quoted in today’s tabloid press as comparing Liam to a “neurotic young girl at a high school”.

He reportedly said: “He knows he can get in the papers from being as obnoxious as he can. When I read the press that surrounded them earlier in 2005, it sounded like an extremely anxious, neurotic young girl at a high school who though that she had younger, better looking competition and was just bitching about everything about her.

“I think everybody, Kaiser Chiefs, Bloc Party, every contemporary band was at the end of some form of vitriol from him. I’m not particularly bothered by him, it just seems like bitchery from cheap neurosis.”

Oasis vs Franz Ferdinand, Teil 2

Noel Gallagher blasts British bands down under

Kaiser Chiefs, Franz Ferdinand and Bloc Party all come in for a tongue lashing

Noel Gallagher has taken his tirade against the current crop of British indie bands Down Under, branding them “indie shit”.

Speaking on Australian radio station Triple J the Oasis guitarist blasted the likes of Bloc Party, Franz Ferdinand and Kaiser Chiefs.

“Let’s call it what it is – it’s indie shit, is what it is,” he said. “None of them are trying to make it big. They’re all trying to make it small or medium – that’s it.

“Don’t get me wrong – I kinda like Franz Ferdinand and Kaiser Chiefs [but] Bloc Party are just appalling. None of them strike me as trying to be in the biggest band in the world or the best band in the world – it’s just indie rubbish.”

Gallagher also spoke about Oasis’s recent tour with Aussie rockers Jet.

He added: “It was really, really great. We had some monumental gigs and some even more monumental nights in dressing room and nights out on the town – it was really, really good fun.

“The bass player went home with his tail in between his legs, because he was threatening to drink every member of my band under the table – and I quote him on saying that – and he would promptly pass out around midnight.”

Oasis are about to begin a four date tour of Japan before they play six dates in Australia.

They return to the UK in December for a run of sold-out dates including a mammoth show at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium.

Liam slags Franz, Bloc Party, Kaisers, Doherty…

Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher has been slagging off Franz Ferdinand (“Right Said Fred”), Scissor Sisters (“weirdoes on stilts”) Bloc Party, The Kaiser Chiefs (“just a bad Blur”) and The Libertines (“Smackheads need slaps”).

As the release of the new Oasis album ‘Don’t Believe The Truth’ draws ever closer, frontman Liam Gallagher has been laying into the current crop of successful bands, only reserving
his approval, oddly, for Charlotte Church.

In the interview with the NME Gallagher, speaking about Franz Ferdinand singer Alex Kapranos, said, “He reminds me of f**king Right Said Fred. You put on ‘I’m Too Sexy For My F**king Thing’ next to their records and I bet you any money it’s the same person. It’s the same f****** person! He’s just gone on the Atkins diet and grown his hair. Not my thing at all. I don’t like quirky weird music.”

As for Scissor Sisters, he responded, “If that’s what they call entertaining, then let them have it – bright colours and f**king weirdoes on stilts? I’m more entertaining than that ****. And I’ll rip his f**king vocal cords out any day because he’s f**king rubbish.”

And the newest bands making an impression on the charts don’t get off either. “F**king Kaiser Chiefs? Rubbish” he continues “Not having any of that nonsense, they’re just a bad Blur. I’m not having it – they wear make-up and their kecks are skintight” and Bloc Party “just remind me of a band off University Challenge. Like they’re sitting on a panel”

As for Pete Doherty, the Gallagher brothers seem split on their opinions. Liam, was (not surprisingly) quite negative, saying “I’m not into smackheads. Smackheads need slaps. So what does the word Libertine mean? Freedom! He’s f**king in the corner doing smack with a helmet on his head! There’s nothing free about that. It’s nasty.”

However Noel was rather more diplomatic about the Babyshambles frontman, “Pete’s always been an absolute gentleman to me and my missus,” Noel explained, “He’s incredibly well read and he’s got a good soul. I tell you what, he needs to wash his hands more, but that’s about it. He’s one of the last bohemians, man.”

But what about the Welsh operatic singing sensation? “It’s Charlotte Church for me, man.” Liam declared, “She could be the next Liam. She’s got a great voice and she f**king has it. She knows how to get f**king hammered and she freaks people out.”

Oasis release their new album ‘Don’t Believe The Truth’ on May 30 while the first single ‘Lyla’ will be out on May 16. Both will be released on Noel Gallagher’s own Big Brother Recordings label. Watch the new video for ‘Lyla’ by clicking here.
