Oasis mixing new album this week

Noel Gallagher and co about to finish seventh record

Oasis are reportedly mixing their latest album in Los Angeles this week, it has been reported today (January 9).

According to a report on US radio station G Rock, the band’s seventh studio record is being mixed after Oasis finished recording sessions at London’s Abbey Road Studios late last year.

The band also recorded and mixed part of their last album, 2005′s ‘Don’t Believe The Truth’, in the city with producer Dave Sardy, who is based there.

At the time Noel Gallagher told NME.COM he had been initially reluctant to work in Los Angeles, but eventually enjoyed the experience.

“I’ve got to say I was bit nervous going to America because it’s a bit like being in a little spaceship going into the Death Star in «Star Wars» when you go over to that country, especially Los Angeles,” he declared. “I was like «Fucking hell, there’s loads of idiots with long hair. I don’t want to meet any rappers or anyone in a rock band» but once we got over the initial hurdle it was great. We were in our own little bubble.”

The album is expected to be released in the spring. However, the band have yet to confirm any details.

Meanwhile is Gallagher one of the greatest guitarists ever? Have you say by voting in our greatest guitarist poll now.

Das Mixing der Platte übernimmt Dave Sardy, der auch schon Teile von “Don’t Believe The Truth” bearbeitete. Mit NME sprach Noel Gallgher über die Reise in die Staaten.

“I’ve got to say I was bit nervous going to America because it’s a bit like being in a little spaceship going into the Death Star in «Star Wars» when you go over to that country, especially Los Angeles,” gestand der Oasis Frontman dem britischen Musikblatt. “I was like «Fucking hell, there’s loads of idiots with long hair. I don’t want to meet any rappers or anyone in a rock band» but once we got over the initial hurdle it was great. We were in our own little bubble.”

Noel ‘to meet with producer’

Noel Gallagher is apparently meeting up with top producer Dave Sardy this week to start making plans for the next Oasis album.

The 40-year-old will be talking to the music man – whose credits include the Spider-Man 3 and Casino Royale soundtracks and studio collections for Wolfmother and Jet – about the follow-up to Don’t Believe The Truth.

The Oasis singer told the Daily Star: “We start talking about the new album on Friday. I’ve got 17 songs ready, everybody else has three each. F*** knows when it will be out – 2010. Don’t hold your breath.”

The 40-year was snapped partying at the Mojo Awards earlier this week with his pregnant girlfriend Sara MacDonald.

He joked the duo had been discussing names for the baby.

“I’m thinking Genghis, Gandhi or Goliath for the kid. Something with a G has got a ring to it,” he laughed.

Oasis: “We’ve got too many songs!”

Oasis

Go put it out!

OASIS say their new album will be out next year – and the only problem now is that they’ve got too many songs.

The Gallaghers have been working on songs for their sixth studio album for much of the year and famously scrapped their work following the Glastonbury festival. Early sessions with Death In Vegas in the producers’ seat were also aborted.

However, the band are now back in the studio with producer Dave Sardy, where they started recording from scratch.

Noel said: “We’re working with Dave Sardy who done The Thrills’ album. We sent him a few tracks of this cobbled together stuff to mix and he sent them back and it didn’t sound right so we said “Why don’t you come over and we’ll start again?”, so we’ve completely started from scratch bar one song that has been finished for the last, I don’t know, ten years.”

Two new songs played at Glastonbury, titled “A Bell Will Ring”, and “The Meaning Of Soul”, are slated to appear on the album. Speaking recently to NME, Noel said a new song “The Importance Of Being Idle”, is one of his current favourites.

He told NME: “One of the songs on there “The Importance Of Being Idle” is one of the best tunes I have ever written. It is The Kinks meets The La’s. It is blinding. We’ve written 66 songs, the majority of which I can’t believe our kid’s done. I’ve only written 14 of them. He’s done most of the rest of them.”

Oasis’ new single is likely to be released in February, with the album to follow. An anniversary DVD of “Definitely Maybe” is out now.
