Liam Gallagher to Peter Kay after Brits: “Listen up fat fuck…”

Oasis man hits back at Brit Awards host over ‘knobhead’ gag

Liam Gallagher has hit back at Brit Awards 2010 host Peter Kay for calling him a “knobhead” at last night’s (February 16) ceremony.

Kay criticised Gallagher after he had left the stage following his speech for winning the Brit Album Of 30 Years award for the 1995 Oasis album ‘(What’s The Story) Morning Glory’.

Writing about the comment on his Twitter.com/liamgallagher account, Gallagher chastised the Bolton-born comic for not insulting him to his face.

“Listen up fat fuck,” he wrote. “As a real northerner I was brought up 2 say shit 2 people’s faces not behind their back. Live forever LG

Gallagher had an eventful night at the Brits. As well as picking up his award – which he threw into the audience – the singer also gave an insightful backstage interview where he insinuated that somebody else at the awards had had an argument with him. He was then heard saying that he wanted to get “loads of class A drugs” as the interview ended.

Oasis win best album of the past 30 years at the Brits

Oasis’ album ‘(What’s The Story) Morning Glory?’ won the award for the best album of the past 30 years at last night’s Brit Award ceremony at Earl’s Court in London. Liam was on hand to pick up the award.

‘(What’s The Story) Morning Glory?’ has sold over 14 million copies worldwide, 4.2 of which are in the UK alone.

The number one album marked the band’s first UK number one single with ‘Some Might Say’ and features live favourites such as ‘Roll With It’ and ‘Champagne Supernova’. It also contains the singles ‘Wonderwall’ and ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger’. ‘Wonderwall’, released in 1995, was the band’s 8th single in the space of 18 punch-drunk months that saw the band rise from noisy Manchester lads to the most talked about band in the world. These two songs, amongst so many others, have come to define Noel Gallagher’s ability to write stadium-rousing anthems, something anyone who caught the band live can testify to.

The Brit Award category was voted for online by the public. The category was open to the best-selling, ‘Best Album’ winners from the past 29 Brit Awards to celebrate the Award’s 30th birthday this year.

Oasis would like to thank everyone who took the time to vote for them.

Cheers!

Noel: “We’re up there with Sting”

NOEL GALLAGHER is unsure whether tonight’s Brit Award for OASIS is a compliment or not.

He will collect the gong for Outstanding Contribution To Music and the band will close tonight’s show with a live performance.

But Noel said he is now terrified he will be lumped in with all the boring old farts.

He said: “We’re finally up there with EURYTHMICS, STING and BOB GELDOF. So I’m not really sure that congratulations are in order.”

Noel said he and brother LIAM decided to accept the honour because it seemed the logical thing to do, coming after the release of the band’s best of album.

He said: “Otherwise they’re going to ask us every year. It seemed the right time. We’d put out Stop The Clocks and we’re all under 40. So we just decided, ‘F*** it, let’s do it now.’”

And don’t expect fireworks when the Earls Court event is shown live on ITV1 at 8pm. Noel insists they will be on their best behaviour.

He continued: “I hope people aren’t waiting for us to smash the gaff up or something. We’re just going to play five songs, have a party, get f*****. We haven’t got anything special planned. We’re not that sort of band. They did say, ‘Can you do a medley of your greatest hits?’ But I find all that slightly pretentious.”

Noel is in no doubt though that Oasis deserve the award.

He told NME: “Definitely Maybe had the same effect as Never Mind The Bollocks. Those two albums were the most important albums of the last 40 years. Bands are still forming today because of both those releases. When I first met ARCTIC MONKEYS they came in our dressing room and ALEX TURNER was saying he got a guitar because of Oasis. So I asked him, ‘How old were you when Definitely Maybe came out?’. He was nine! That bent my head.”

Despite all the years passing, Noel is still not a big fan of DAMON ALBARN.

He added: “I’ve got a lot of respect for Damon, I really do mean it. Because I’m indifferent to Damon he thinks that I think he’s a ****. Our Liam will talk to him. I won’t because he’s just another singer in a band to me but I don’t think he’s a ****. Good luck to him.”

Tonight will be a watershed moment for Oasis, when they put their past behind them and start a new era.

Noel confirmed: “Our producer Dave Sardy is coming over (from the States) for the Brits so I guess we’ll have a chat and kick around some ideas. I’ve got eight songs that I’m pretty happy with. Liam has got one or two that he thinks are brilliant. I fancy doing something more elaborate. It’s about time.”

Russell Brand threatens to upstage Oasis

Russell Brand has angered the Gallagher brothers by threatening to upstage them at the Brit Awards.

The eccentric comedian – who is hosting the awards on Wednesday – revealed that Noel phoned up his Radio 2 show and warned him to behave on the night. Oasis will receive an Outstanding Contribution gong and the boys are worried that Brand could spoil the occasion.

Brand explained: “Noel rang my show and said, ‘Don’t you dare try to upstage us – the evening is about Oasis, not you. Don’t ruin this perfect night.’ So I said, ‘Noel, you’re just a footnote. It’s all about me’.”

A show insider told the News of the World: “We all know how unpredictable Russell can be and it will only take one sarcastic comment to push Oasis over the edge.”

Ringo to tempt Oasis to the Brits

Oasis are being courted to make an appearance at the Brits, with a lifetime achievement award from one of their biggest heroes being used as bait.

Reports claim the organisers of British music’s showpiece event have lined up former Beatles drummer Ringo Starr to give the band their gong in what would be a fitting tribute.

Noel and Liam Gallagher have long-named the Liverpool four-piece as their ultimate influences and Brits’ bosses hope the lure of the ex-Beatle will ensure their attendance at Earls Court on Valentine’s Day.

It is understood that the brothers behind the multi-million selling band would only agree to come to the ceremony if they were guaranteed someone “amazing” to hand over their award, after their last album, Don?t Believe The Truth, was overlooked at last year’s Brits.

Originally Johnny Depp had been expected to present them with the award but the actor had to pull out due to filming commitments.

However, Ringo would undoubtedly be a pull for the band, particularly as Oasis even once played with Ringo’s son Zak Starkey on live dates in 2005.

Now the Gallaghers, along with band members Andy Bell and Gem Archer, may be the latest big names to appear at the show.
