Fans will be able to watch the band’s Wembley show as it happens

Oasis will broadcast the forthcoming London date of their UK tour live on British television.

The band are playing at the Wembley Arena on October 16. MTV will screen the show live-to-air.

MTV1 will screen the live show at 9pm (BST), with a repeat the following day (October 17) on MTV2.

Oasis will preview their forthcoming new album ‘Dig Out Your Soul’ online in its entirety tomorrow (October 1).

The album is not released in the UK until next Monday, but will be streamed in full on MySpace.

Fans will be able to listen to the album from midday tomorrow (BST) at the MySpace Music Page, where it will remain for the rest of the week.

Tickets for Oasis’ Electric Proms performance sold out this morning in 40 seconds flat.

The gig will be a very special performance as the band are performing with the Crouch End Festival Choir.

The Oasis performance will be broadcast on BBC Radio 1 from 9pm on 26th October, and on BBC2 at 22:45pm on the same day. Fans outside the UK can watch the performance for a week after the festival along with photos and interviews at www.bbc.co.uk/electricproms.

The tour, the band’s first US tour in 3 years, kicks off on December 3 in Oakland, CA and includes the band’s triumphant return to NYC’s Madison Sq. Garden on December 17th. Oasis will be headlining and closing this year’s BBC Electric Proms. The band will play at The Roundhouse in London on Sunday 26th October.

The gig is set to be a special one with Oasis being accompanied by the Crouch End Festival Chorus.

Noel had this to say about the gig, “We are doing the Electric Proms, and we’re doing it with the Crouch End Choir as well… there’s 50 odd of them…because some of the songs on the album have got a 50 piece choir on them. So we’re gonna do a night at the Proms with that lot, it should be good actually… Ennio Morricone uses them for his spaghetti western stuff in England, so I’m already looking forward to that because I’ve never played the Roundhouse and I’ve never done the Proms.”

Kollektive Trance: Englands erfolgreichste Band seit den Beatles entdeckt die Rockmusik der 70er-Jahre wieder

Bevor Oasis ihre Seele nach außen kehren konnten, gab es erst einmal einen kräftigen Tritt in den Hintern. Ein übermütiger Fan hatte vor wenigen Tagen bei einem Konzert in Kanada die Bühne geentert und Noel Gallagher, den Gitarristen und Kopf der Band, hinterrücks zu Boden gestreckt.

Einen Tourneeabbruch und drei gebrochene Rippen später erscheint jetzt mit “Dig Out Your Soul” das siebte Album einer Band, von der zuletzt niemand mehr ernsthaft etwas Relevantes erwartet hatte. Zu gewöhnlich waren die vorigen Alben “Heathen Chemistry” von 2002 und das drei Jahre später auf den Markt geworfene “Don’t Believe The Truth” der in die Jahre gekommenen Rasselbande geworden, deren Fixpunkte seit der Gründung von Oasis 1994 die Brüder Liam und Noel markieren.

Umso überraschender kommt dieses Massiv von einer Platte heute um die Ecke. Laut, repetitiv und psychedelisch bauen sich die elf neuen Songs auf “Dig Out Your Soul” vor dem Hörer auf. Ihr Auftritt ist unverhandelbar, so wie eine Gruppe Streitsuchender, die nachts um halb drei keine langen Diskussionen wünschen. So erinnert das selbstbewusste, neueste Kapitel der erfolgreichsten englischen Band seit den Beatles an kohärente Rockalben aus den 70er-Jahren – als eine Platte nicht länger war als 40 Minuten und die Songs dank einer willensstarken Produktion stets wie von einem unsichtbaren Band zusammengehalten wurden.

Das Verbindende von “Dig Out Your Soul” ist indes zunächst einmal die wie ein pumpender Organismus unbeirrbar krautrockig stampfende Rhythm-Section um Schlagzeuger Chris Sharrock und Bassist Andy Bell. Ihre wuchtigen Fundamente bilden die Basis für eine “Wall of Sound” aus Rockgitarren, Keyboards, Klavieren, Hallräumen und was weiß ich nicht wie vielen kleinen Tricks am Mischpult, mit denen man heutzutage suggerieren kann, es spielte eine überschaubare Band – aber in Wirklichkeit wurden Dutzende von Instrumentalspuren im Sinne einer Soundarchitektur so übereinandergeschichtet, dass ein echter Überwältigungsklang entsteht.

Der Quantensprung von Oasis, den Songschreiber Noel in einer offiziellen Verlautbarung seiner Band damit erklärt, dass “er endlich erwachsen geworden” sei, ist allerdings woanders zu suchen. Das ebenso aggressive wie intensive Grundgeballer wurde nämlich einer Art musikalischen Reformation unterzogen. Im Zusammenklang mit den hypnotischen Grooves wachsen stoisch rollende Songs wie “Ain’t Got Nothin’”, “The Nature Of Reality” oder “Soldier On” durch eine psychedelische Experimentierfreude, bis diese an abgedrehte Beatles-Momente, etwa deren legendäre Nummer “Tomorrow Never Comes”, erinnern.

So erreichen die Gebrüder Gallagher eher öfters als selten Momente des Verlorenseins in der Musik – getragen von einer musikalisch durchkalkulierten und durch Wiederholungen und Wiederholungen und Wiederholungen von Gitarrenakkorden generierten Repetition. Dass diese Formel unwiderstehlich ist, das wissen Oasis nur zu gut. Bleibt die Frage, warum die aus Manchester stammende Band sich fast ein Jahrzehnt lang keine Mühe gegeben hat. Okay, Noel Gallagher hat mehr Geld verdient, als er jemals ausgeben kann, da wird man schon träge. Aber das kann als Erklärung nicht ausreichen.

Exemplarisch kann man die Wiedergeburt dieser in ihren guten Augenblicken geilen Proletenband festmachen an dem großartigen neuen Song “Waiting For The Rapture” und der grundsoliden ersten Single “The Shock Of The Lightning”. In beiden Songs geht es gleich auf die Zwölf, der Unterschied zwischen den Liedern besteht darin, dass die Single mit der Unbarmherzigkeit eines Rockverwalters eine Art Einpeitscherfunktion auf dem Album einnimmt, während “Waiting For The Rapture” ganz und gar sophisticated Affirmation und Exzentrik zusammenbringt. Liam Gallagher singt in diesem Song die Zeilen “She come up to me – can’t remember what she said / Because I was in a trance and I forgot it all” und scheint damit en passant den Schlüssel zu diesem bemerkenswerten Album zu liefern: Als habe sich die Band während der Aufnahmen in kollektive Trance versetzt, geht es beim verflixten siebenten Mal nicht mehr um Inhalte, über die man reden oder an die man sich erinnern könnte, sondern nur noch um pure Form, die es zu zelebrieren gilt.

Damit sind Oasis, ohne dass sie diesen Begriff in ihrem Leben vermutlich je gehört haben, auf ihre alten Tage doch noch zu einer Art postmodernen Band geworden, die zitiert, kopiert, sich fremde Dinge zu eigen macht und mit dem eigenen Klang amalgamiert; kurz: die Duchamps Urinal nehmen und es wieder richtig herum hinstellen würde, damit man auch schön im Stehen hineinpinkeln kann. Und ein solcher Akt, wenn man so will, hat etwas Grundaufrichtiges.

Big Brother Recordings have announced they will be making the new Oasis album, ‘Dig Out Your Soul’, available in two separate formats for download purchasers.

In addition to the full-length album, the band will be releasing a simple ten-track mp3 version for £5. This will be available from a variety of online stores and Oasisinet.

A spokesperson for the label said, “We want to give the fans more of a choice. If you just want to get the tracks you’ve heard on the radio and check out a bit more of the band’s new music you can for a reasonable price”.

The full-length version of the album will also be available at all online stores and for fans that buy it on Oasisinet.com it comes with a half hour documentary on the making of the album.

This is the first time a new Oasis album has been made available on mp3 from release.

Finally, fans who pre-order ‘Dig Out Your Soul’ from iTunes will also receive a bonus track in the form of the Liam written ‘I Believe In All’ on day of release, as well as ‘Falling Down’ at time of order.
