You gotta wait for it says Noel

NOEL GALLAGHER has warned OASIS fans they will have to wait a bit longer to hear the group’s next album.

He told Virgin Radio’s Ben Jones: “The album’s not going to be out until the end of the year at the earliest – not in June like predicted.”

Noel spoke at a WHO gig for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

PETE TOWNSHEND performed with The Who for the first time since he was cautioned for accessing a child pornography website.

He said: “I was a bit worried about being here, what with the year I’ve had.”

Oasis and Weller watch as The Who rock London

The Grown-Ups Are Alright!

THE WHO played a triumphant set last night (March 29) at LONDON’s ROYAL ALBERT HALL in aid of the TEENAGE CANCER TRUST.

The Mod legends tore through a career-spanning set, including some of their best loved tracks, as well as treating rapturous fans to new material – their first as a band since 1982′s album ‘It’s Hard’.

Surviving members, singer Roger Daltrey and guitarist Pete Townshend, led the band through tracks including ‘Substitute’, ‘Won’t Get Fooled Again’, ‘The Kids Are Alright’, ‘You Better You Bet’, ‘Who Are You’, ‘Behind Blue Eyes’ and ‘My Generation’.

The Who also played tracks from their film scores, including ‘Quadrophenia”s ‘Love, Reign O’er Me’ and a performance of songs from ‘Tommy’, as well as new songs ‘Real Good Looking Boy’ and ‘Old Red Wine’.

Townshend also spoke out about his traumatic year, which saw him arrested in January 2003 as a part of Operation Ore, the nationwide crackdown on child pornography.

Police said after a four-month investigation, that the 58-year-old guitarist had visited a website containing child pornography, but had not downloaded any of the images.

Visibly moved onstage, Townshend admitted that he had been “nervous” about stepping out in public again before thanking the packed-out crowd and his bandmates for their support.

The set was watched by fellow Modfather Paul Weller and Noel Gallagher with support coming from The Coral.

Liam’s a Wonderwall for motorists

THE Gallagher brothers may not be able to drive themselves, but that hasn’t stopped Oasis from producing the number one driving tune according to a survey of male drivers in Watford.

Wonderwall was chosen as the most popular song to drive to by men, while women in the area opted for Kylie Minogue’s Can’t Get You Out Of My Head.

With the Easter Bank Holiday approaching and long traffic queues expected, fast fit centre STS Tyres and Exhausts carried out the survey of 200 local people, which also revealed Britney Spears and Blur to be amongst the most-listened-to acts in the car.

When trying to relax, Boyzone and Robbie Williams come up trumps with women, while men prefer the sound of U2 or The Strokes to relieve the stresses of a hard day’s work.

Retail operations manager Mike Marment said: “As a nation we’re spending more and more time in our cars than ever and it was interesting to discover how important music is to people on both long and short car journeys.

“Specifically, we wanted to find out what songs turn people into the next budding pop idol and what tunes help them forget their worries.”

Oasis Festival Zeitplan 2004

Im kommenden NME wird über Tickets, Tour- und Festivalpläne von einigen Bands, wie Oasis, den Strokes und Franz Ferdinand berichtet.

Oasis – The most euphoric festival band on earth

Where?: Glastonbury, but we didn’t tell you, right?

And, then there were two, when Noel and Liam Gallagher arrived in the pages of NME in 94, they vowed to revive the rock n roll spirit and make excess fashionable again. Ten years and millions of album sales later, they’ve left behind them a trail of broken marriages, enough drug use to prop up the Columbian economy and more great music than most bands can dream about. In the same time Trip Hop, Drill n Bass, nosebleed techno and Nu metal have all come and gone. Few people don’t get a shiver down the spine whenever they hear the garbled glory of Champagne Supernova or Live Forever blasting out the pub jukebox. Who cares if Noel and Liam are now supported by the grinning guitarist from heavy stereo, a bassist who thought up Hurricane #1 and no drummer?
This summer they will play their hits live, Liam will stand at the lip of the stage and sneer and all will be right with the world again.
Oasis, more than ever.

Comedy Cover versions?
A dash through 7 nation army before a sly stab at Take me out? We can but hope.

Chances of Bottles of Piss being thrown?
95% Anyone who remembers Finsbury Park 2002 will be wearing a hat.

Chances of Liam being drunk Onstage?
In a constantly changing world, the fact that Liam will be trolleyed is one thing we can be sure of.

Liams are big softies

Family man ... Liam G with Gene and Nicole

Family man ... Liam G with Gene and Nicole

NOW we know what pop’s hellraisers get up to on a rainy day.

Partying hard is clearly not on the agenda for LIAM GALLAGHER and LIAM HOWLETT.

Once famed for their drinking and fighting, the pair seem to have turned over a new leaf and instead spent Sunday enjoying tea with the in-laws.

Quali-tea time ... Liam H and Natalie visit her parents

Quali-tea time ... Liam H and Natalie visit her parents

Mad fer it!

They went with better halves NICOLE and NATALIE APPLETON to the girls’ parents.

It?s the first glimpse we’ve had of Nat and Prodigy star Liam H with three-week-old son Ace – he is in that carry-cot, honest.

They were joined by Oasis wildman Liam G, Nicole and their son Gene, two, for a cosy cup of camomile.

Prodigal son ... Liam with Ace

Thankfully there was at least a glimmer of bad behaviour when proud new dad Liam H made a rude gesture to a snapper.

Thank goodness all’s not lost.
