Ruth Taylor, die Managerin der Sawmills Studios, in denen Oasis gegenwärtig ihr neues Album aufnehmen, hat nur Gutes über die Band zu berichten: “Die Band ist wirklich nett, ganz anders als die öffentliche Meinung uns glauben machen will.” Die Band besuchte den Ort kurz vor Weihnachten um die technischen Spezifikationen des Studios zu begutachten und kehrte Ende Januar zurück um den Grossteil ihres Albums aufzunehmen, bevor sie letzte Woche eine Pause einlegten. Auch über den Eisenbahnskandal kann sie etwas berichten: “Noel war ein wenig überrascht, wieviel Wind um die ganze Sache gemacht wurde. Die Leute vergessen, dass es der SUN Fotograf war, der zuerst auf die Schienen musste um ein Foto zu schiessen – wird er aber belangt? [...]

Ich glaube, sie mögen es hier, weil dieser Ort so abgeschieden und ruhig ist – zuhause sind sie gewöhnlich von Campern umringt. Doch selbst hier ziehen sie die Fans und die Medien an: Letztens hatten wir einen Kerl, der mit Kamera bei absoluter Eiseskälte in einem Bach sass. Wir werden mit blöden Telefonanrufen und Emails zugeschüttet und Noel & Liam kriegen immer noch Post.” Ein Fan aus Cornwall rief hier kürzlich an und lud die Band zu einer Party ein. Dazu reiste eine junge Band aus Surrey den ganzen Weg bis hier runter an und klopften eines Nachts an die Studiofenster. Sie wollten Noel sprechen., aber er war nicht da. Plötzlich tauchte Liam auf und sie sagten ihm aufgeregt: “Wir sind den ganzen Weg von Surrey bis hierhin gefahren um euch zu sehen.” “Bisschen bescheuert”, kam als Antwort. Und damit war das Gespräch beendet.

Ruth fügt an: “Sie wollen ein Album aufnehmen, das nicht wie die typischen Oasis klingt – es hört sich wirklich gut an. Aber mehr als das werde ich nicht erzählen, ihr müsst warten bis es veröffentlicht wird.”

Die Band genoss ihre Ausgänge in den örtlichen Pub, Fisherman’s Arms, wo sie von jedem freundlich aufgenommen wurden.

Ein Betreiber sagte: “Sie waren wirklich normale Kunden – höflich und zuvorkommend. Wir haben hier unten ne Menge Rockstars, also macht keiner hier eine allzu grosse Sache daraus.”

Big Gob and his fiance NICOLE APPLETON are taking a sunshine break with their son Gene. And like a dutiful father and partner, Liam took them to the beach.

But it looks like the Oasis singer forgot to pack a bucket and spade for his two-year-old – the poor lad had to resort to playing with a bottle of beer. Either that or he’s making an early start on following in Daddy’s footsteps. The pair even wore matching hats.

In his multi-coloured shorts, it’s clear the seaside is not Liam’s natural habitat.

And if his T-shirt’s anything to go by, I’d hazard a guess he’s not planning on playing happy families for long. The slogan reads: “Sit next to a stranger and watch things together.”

Odds on he’s planning to escape family duties on the beach – and head for a typical night on the tiles.

Noel Gallagher

According to Noel Gallagher, Oasis are taking their time while working on their new album down in Cornwall, with the much mooted 2004 release no longer definite, while the band are asking fans for help with compiling a new DVD.

Oasis are currently recording the follow up to their 2002 album “Heathen Chemistry” at Sawmills Studios in Cornwall with Death in Vegas’ Tim Holmes and Richard Fearless, but according to Noel, it’s rather slow going:

“We’re just in the middle of doing our album.” He explained to the BBC. “We’re just having a couple of weeks off from it. It’d be nice to get it out for the summer, but I doubt it. Maybe the end of the year, I don’t know, it depends how well it goes, but it’s going a bit slow, lets put it that way.”

Auch das neue Album von Oasis wird wohl nicht mehr – wie ursprünglich angepeilt – im Sommer erscheinen können. Noel Gallagher räumte ein, dass die Arbeit am neuen Material “etwas langsam voran geht”. Bislang sei etwa die Hälfte im Kasten, jetzt nimmt die Band erst einmal zwei Wochen Urlaub. Der BBC erzählte Gallagher: “Es wäre natürlich schön, das Album noch im Sommer veröffentlichen zu können, aber ich habe Zweifel, dass das klappen wird. Vielleicht Ende des Jahres, mal sehen.”

Gestern strahlte der britische Sender Channel 4 “The Ultimate Pop Star – a list of the 50 biggest selling artists in the UK of all time” aus; eine Auflistung der Künstler mit den meisten Singleverkäufen im UK. Oasis belegten hierbei den 26. Rang mit ca. 6,2 Mio. verkauften Singles. Im dazugehörigen Beitrag kamen auch die Gallaghers sowie Bonehead zu Wort:

Liam: “This is the way I am, wether I’m in a band or not, cos I’ve always been a little twat and always will be.”

Noel: “I write songs on a guitar. It isn’t gonna sound like Jean Michelle Jarre, d’you know what I mean?”

Bonehead: “I think the thing that made us different than all the other bands around at the time, no disrespect to Noel, was Liam Gallagher.”

Oasis arbeiten derzeit nicht nur an ihrem neuen Album (das voraussichtlich im September erscheinen soll), sondern gleichzeitig auch an der Zusammenstellung einer DVD. Die Band ruft ihre Fans auf, ihre Archive nach brauchbarem Material zu sichten…

Der Aufruf auf der Band-Website lautet:

“Habt Ihr irgendwelche Fotos oder Videos aus den frühen Tagen von Oasis (wir sind besonders an allem von 1992 bis April 1995 interessiert)? Falls ja, wären wir sehr interessiert, die Sachen zu sichten, um sie eventuell für eine kommende offizielle Oasis-DVD zu verwenden.

Die DVD wird von unserem langjährigen Filmemacher Dick Carruthers bei M Productions gemacht. Bitte mailt Informationen über Euer Material an oasisdvd@metropolis-group.co.uk, die werden Euch dann kontaktieren.

Also, durchstöbert Eure Archive und schon könntet Ihr einen offiziellen Beitrag zu diesem aufregenden Projekt leisten.”

Liam Gallagher scheint sich derweil wieder Ärger eingehandelt zu haben. Die britische Polizei ermittelt seit gestern wegen der Anklage eines Fotografen, der behauptet, Gallagher habe ihn beim Verlassen einer Aftershow-Party nach den Brit Awards mehrfach auf den Kopf geschlagen: “Liam schlug mich vier oder fünf Mal. Später kamen er und zwei andere heraus wie der Ku Klux Klan. Sie hatten sich ihre Taschen über die Köpfe gestülpt und Augenschlitze herausgeschnitten.” Ein Sprecher Gallaghers sagte zu den Vorwürfen: “Es ist nichts Ungebührliches vorgefallen.”

Macca gives Glasto thumbs aloft!

PAUL McCARTNEY has been confirmed to headline the Saturday night (June 26) at this year’s GLASTONBURY.

Festival organiser Michael Eavis confirmed the ex-Beatle’s slot at the Oxford Union last night (February 18).

Eavis revealed that McCartney was booked for this year’s event on the Tuesday after the festival finished last year.

Other artists confirmed for the three-day festival are The Cure, James Brown, Kings Of Leon, Basement Jaxx, My Morning Jacket and the Scissor Sisters.

Oasis, and The Strokes are also rumoured to be in talks with Eavis. Acts such as Pixies, Muse, Elbow, Idlewild, and Keane are also strongly rumoured to play.

Eavis also commented that he would book the Red Hot Chili Peppers if they contacted him with regards to playing the festival, but felt that they were “more for 14 year-olds”.

As previously reported on NME.COM, tickets for the event, taking place on June 25 – 27 at Worthy Farm, Pilton, in Somerset, will go on sale on April 1, at 8pm. Tickets for this year’s event will cost ?112 plus booking fee, and postage costs. Credit cards will not be accepted, and tickets will be limited to two per person.

Police were last night probing photographer James Taylor’s claim that Gallagher, 31, rained blows on his head after a Brit Awards party. James, 18, said: «He acted like an animal.»

James had asked to take photos outside a flat in Belsize Park, North London, at 2am. He said: «Liam punched me four or five times. Later he and two others came out like the Ku Klux Klan. They had carrier bags over their heads with slits cut out for the eyes.»

Return Of Wonderbrawl – Liam Scraps Again

Allegedly up to his old tricks again, Liam Gallagher has been accused of “acting like an animal” when he attacked a photographer – before fleeing the scene in a fashionable Paul Smith disguise. Never let it be said this man is boring.

Police were last night questioning the allegedly beaten photographer James Taylor’s claim that Gallagher punched him repeatedly in the head after a Brit Awards party.

Taylor told The Sun “Liam punched me four or five times. Later he and two others came out like the Ku Klux Klan. They had carrier bags over their heads with slits cut out for the eyes.”

An Oasis spokesman said last night: “Nothing untoward happened.”

In other Liam-going-a-bit-crazy news, Gallagher was the most recent contributor to the Christian O’Connell Breakfast Show Bounty Hunter Give-away.

Christian’s currently paying listeners £10,000 sterling to turn celebrity Bounty Hunter. The listener who convinces the biggest star to chat to Christian for a minute will win ten grand. This morning a listener told the show of his chance meeting with the illustrious Mr. Gallagher which occurred as follows:

Said listener was enjoying an evening at Alan McGee’s Death Disco in Notting Hill and found himself “Stood next to Liam ‘F**king’ Gallagher!!!”

“Waiting till the end of the gig and with my mobile phone voice recorder poised on record I approached probably the biggest music legend of our generation…

Me: “Liam… I need to ask you a huge favour?”
Liam: “Go on…..”
Me: “Xfm are running a competition to win £10,000 if you can get a message from the biggest celebrity during the next two weeks”

Inexplicably, he then proceeded to pull out a piece of paper from his pocket with “Liam Gallagher” written on it.

Am Freitag, den 13.02., gaben Jet zusammen mit The Stands, The Ordinary Boys und anderen Künstlern ihre musikalischen Darbietungen anläßlich der NME Awards Show zum besten – unter anderem begutachtet von Oasis und Hollywood-Star Alicia Silverstone. Das ausverkaufte Hammersmith Palais war eine willkommene Gelegenheit für Liam und Noel ihre Aufnahmen in Cornwall zu pausieren und sich das australische Quartett anzusehen.
